Showcasing Our Growth This Spring

Earlier this spring, Friends – Utah youth welcomed their families to our Clubhouse to share some very special creations with them. The space was filled to the brim with tables displaying creative projects of all kinds, each one thoughtfully crafted by our youth around the theme of Growth. One youth, Laura*, was a bundle of energy as she came in the door searching for something very special to share with her family.

When she spotted the project that she had worked so hard on, Laura’s eyes lit up with pride. With a burst of excitement, Laura dashed toward her artwork pulling her parents along, saying, “Do you recognize it? Do you know what this is? It’s Pumpkin! My favorite fox stuffie!” Her joy was contagious as she described the art techniques she had learned alongside her professional mentor, Amy. Even Owlbert, the FinWise Bank mascot, got the full, enthusiastic explanation from Laura herself!

At Friends of the Children, we believe in the power of professional mentorship—connecting youth with passionate and full-time mentors who help them explore their interests and celebrate every step of their journey. Laura’s story is just one of many that reminds us why we do what we do.
